The CEI Piano Forum (in 2023: 5th edition) is carried out in partnership with CEI-Central European Initiative, as part of cooperation projects aimed at stimulating dialogue and comparison between the countries of this area, above all by creating opportunities for the exchange of ideas and good practices inside and outside the borders of the European Union.
As a follow-up of the last edition focused on “Musical Diplomacy”, actually considering Culture and Music a privileged approach to improve intercultural dialogue and civil consciousness, in 2023 the Forum will open a wider discussion focused on “Music Competitions, Training and Careers”, animated by the representatives of some of the main International Piano Competitions of the CEI Member Countries and of other European musical institutions. This project will make use of the collaboration of the Alink-Argerich Foundation, an international body based in Den Haag (Netherlands), which gathers among its members the most important International Piano Competitions in the world (including Piano FVG), giving visibility and assistance, stimulating the comparison of procedures and quality standards, collecting statistical data for studies and research in the field of music competitions.
The Forum would offer a table for discussion and exchange of good practices to organizers, pianists, jury members, competitors, teachers, etc., focusing some issues of particular interest, sharing experiences, critical issues, new ideas. At the same time, the comparison could open up new prospects for international collaboration, also to encourage the mobility of the winners and possibly supporting the formalization of partnership agreements within the CEI area.
Among main topics:
– the new procedures for carrying out the performing rounds (auditions, concerts) also considering the resources of multimedia technologies in the context of the new perspectives that emerged during/post Covid pandemic
– the mobility of pianists (competitors, but also teachers, jurors, etc.), especially focused on CEI area, inside and beyond EU borders
– the awards and career coaching opportunities for winners
– the value of Piano Competitions from an “educational” point of view, as a training for young pianists
– and finally – theme which is very close to CEI’s mission – the actions to support gender equity, in order to promote equal participation opportunities for male and female pianists.
