Piano Competition

The Friuli Venezia Giulia PianoFVG International Piano Competition is one of the most important international musical events to highlight new keyboard talents from all over the world, within the age limit of 32.

Described by the Dutch newspaper Het Parool as “the miracle of the keyboard,” Anna Kravtchenko made a name for herself on the international piano scene after winning unanimous first prize at the prestigious “Ferruccio Busoni” International Piano Competition in 1992, when she was only 16 years old.

Musical Program

The Friuli Venezia Giulia International Piano Competition takes place in the City of Sacile, which can be reached by a one-hour train ride from Venice.

FIRST PHASE > 2025

Tuesday, May 6 to Saturday, May 10

All competitors must perform a program of a maximum duration of 20 minutes including:

n. 1 Studio di F. Chopin dall’op. 10 o dall’op. 25

Sonata K 380 in E major (with or without ritornelli) by D.Scarlatti

No. 1 Prelude by C. Debussy from Book I or II

One or more pieces of free choice

All admitted contestants (a minimum of 12 to a maximum of 15) must perform a program lasting between a minimum of 40 minutes and a maximum of 50 minutes including:

No. 1 Sonata by L.v. Beethoven from the 32 free-choice sonatas

No. 1 piece composed after the year 1900

One or more pieces of free choice

*Giuseppe Molinari’s prelude op.2 “Mnemes”

Songs already performed in previous rehearsals cannot be repeated

*Competitors intending to compete for the “Giuseppe Molinari” out-of-competition scholarship may perform in the second round the prelude op.2 “Mnemes” downloadable from this website

SECOND PHASE > 2026

Wednesday, May 6 to Saturday, May 9

The 6 selected finalists will perform in two rounds at Teatro Zancanaro in Sacile.
